Dating is irrational, so why do teenagers do it?

I can see since you are very interested in your studies, you really haven't be opened up to the thought of close friends and relationships. Since you weren't surrounded by children of your age your whole life, you didn't experience your first "crush" or admiration for another. You probably have never really felt a strong amount of emotions for one person. This "lovey" dazed feeling you get quickly is caused by your brain's overactive release of the chemical dopamine (similar to the drug meth) in your brain, which gives you that overly happy, in love aura around you. Teenagers thrive on this dopamine, even though it's usually short-lived and is all in their heads. Teenagers have a lot of hormones running around, though, so they believe this chemical is actually "love". Dating is fun, even if it's only for a short time. I'd recommend it to anyone. It's exciting and new, so don't knock it until you try it yourself. Maybe eventually you will find that true love, that's not just a chemical in your brain. Good luck!
