I have completed my bsc microbiology course in chennai. . .is it good for me to do msc biotechnology?

just finished my ug in microbiology, opted to do pg in biotechnology and that too in a college (since i failed my university entrance exam). could somebody help me regarding this. whether it is safe to shift from micro to biotech , and whether it can be done in colleges. do i have any problem regarding my job later. please help me
